How does Bethrifty.ie work?

It's simple. Every time a customer is referred to a store by a website and then buys something - the referring website is awarded commission (a little bonus as a way of thanking them for passing on the sale).

Now, with Bethrifty.ie - we are the referrer, so, instead of keeping that commission we pass it onto our members. Every time you purchase from one of the stores listed on our site, that store pays us commission. We then pass this commission back to you as cashback.
 

How is the Cashback calculated?

Cashback can either be a percentage of the purchase price, or a fixed amount.
 

How is the PERCENTAGE cashback calculated?
This type of cashback is calculated on the NET value of your purchase i.e. the amount before VAT and delivery charges. For example purchasing a laptop online with a store offering 5% cashback on Bethrifty. If the laptop is €400 then the net value of the laptop is: €400 - €70.78(VAT)-€20.00 (Delivery) = €309.22. The 5% is calculated on this amount giving cashback of €15.46
 

How does the FIXED amount of cashback work?
This cashback is more straightforward. The store will offer a fixed amount per sale. This is the amount that we pass on to our members. For example you might book a flight online and receive €8 cashback. This fixed amount of cashback will be awarded regardless of the price of the flight.
 

So, how do I earn this cashback?
Simply sign up to our site here, for FREE.
Browse the stores by category or alphabetically
Select the store you wish to shop at.
Then click on the link to visit that store and earn cashback.
  Shop as you normally do on the store's own web page.
Then all you have to do is wait!
  Normally within 48 hours your cashback is tracked and should show in the My Earnings page.
  Once the purchase is validated by the store, the store will pay commission to Bethrifty.ie.
  Bethrifty.ie will then pay this commission immediately to our members' Bethrifty accounts.

How can I access My Account?
You can view your account by clicking on the "My Account" tab in the top navigation bar of almost any page on the Bethrifty site when you are logged in.
 

How can I update my account information?
Click on the "My Account" tab in the top navigation bar. Then click on the "My Details" link located on the left hand side of the screen. This page will allow you to view your current details and make any necessary changes to your name, e-mail address, password and preferred payment method.
 

How long does it take for the cashback to appear in My Account?
Once you complete your online purchase from one of our listed stores we wait for confirmation from the store that the purchase has been made. As soon as confirmation is received the cashback will show up as tracked on the My Earnings page.

Most of the cashback will take up to 48 hours to track. In some cases stores can take up to 30 days to track, so please do be patient.

If you made a purchase more than 30 days ago and it still hasn't appeared in My Earnings page then contact us using the link at the top of the page. Please quote your order number (this is the number the store quotes to confirm your purchase with them) and tracking numer( this can be found in the Shopping History page) in the email).
 

I made a purchase via BeThrifty.ie thats not showing on My Earnings? Why?
Don't forget that most purchases will take 48 hrs to show on your account.
If you have waited a lot longer than this then its very possible your cashback has not tracked. Reasons for this include:

Cookies Disabled - Ensure cookies are enabled by clicking here
Voucher Code - If you have used a voucher code not provided by BeThrifty.ie then you are NOT entitled to cashback and the purchase will not show in 'My Earnings'.
Searching For Voucher Codes - If you have visited another website to look for a voucher code whilst using BeThrifty.ie then that site will become the last referring site and therefore they will receive the commission not you.
Firewall/Antivirus - Some firewall and antivirus software block cookies and tracking functionalities.

If you feel that none of the above explain the reason why your cashback has not tracked then we ask that you contact us with the the date, order number, store name and order amount. Once you do this we will investigate the cashback with the store. We apologise in advance as this can often be a lengthy process.
 

How long does it take for the cashback to become 'Confirmed'
Once cashback appears as tracked in 'My Account' we wait for the store to confirm that the cashback will be paid to BeThrifty.ie.

This will take a minimum of 30 days. Once we recieve confirmation that the Store will pay us we move your cashback amount to the 'Confirmed' section.

This time delay is to ensure that the purchase has not been returned to the store and/or cancelled. Flights, Hotels, holidays and general travel purchases normally take longer as the stores wait for the stay to be completed. We ask in advance that you are patient when waiting for cashback. We can assure you that we do everything we can to ensure our members are paid as soon as possible and cannot pay members until we receive confirmation that we will be paid....Free money takes time...!
 

My Cashback has been 'Declined'.
Cashback can move from the tracked stage to the declined stage....however once cashback is confirmed it will never move to the 'Declined' stage. If cashback is showing as 'Declined' on the My Account section the store have informed us that they will not pay cashback.

This can happen for a number of reasons e.g. purchase was returned, purchase was cancelled, a voucher code was used that was not provided by BeThrifty.ie, payment was declined.

Unfortunately we do not have any control over declined purchases. As the Store has confirmed that payment of the cashback will not be paid to us we simply cannot pay members.
 
 

What do the different status types mean?

We keep tabs on each and every purchase made through Bethrifty.ie. The progress of members' cashback on these purchases is shown in the My Account page under My Earnings. The four status types are:
Tracked - The store has confirmed that our member has made a purchase via Bethrifty.
Confirmed - The store has confirmed that commission will be paid to you.
Paid- We have received commission from the store and paid cashback to our member.
Declined- The store has declined the tracked purchase.
 

How do I get paid?
You have the option of receiving your earnings direct to your bank account or via PayPal.
1) Bank Account: We send your earnings directly to your preferred bank account. You can change your details (including your bank details) on the Payment Options page. Please ensure that your details are correct and up to date before we send out a payment. If no or incorrect bank account details have been entered into you account profile, we will keep the money in your BeThrifty account until such details are entered.
2) PayPal: We send your earnings to your preferred PayPal account (minus sender's fees- which apply to Business and Premium accounts only). Please ensure that you enter your full name and your registered paypal email address before payment
 

When do I get paid?

It is up to our members whether they want to be paid ASAP or save. We pay any confirmed balances direct to members' bank or paypal accounts every 2-4 weeks. To enable this feature members should go to the My Account page - Payment Options and then select the 'pay me ASAP' option.

If this option is not selected, any cashback earned will continue to accumulate in the members' Bethrifty account.

So who can sign up?

To sign up you must be a resident of Ireland, be over 16 years of age, have an email address and agree to our term's and conditions.
 

Forgot your password?
Click here to have your password emailed to your registered email address. Simply enter the email address which you used to sign up and you will immediately receive your password. Make sure to check your junk mail folder if you can't find it in your inbox.
 

How do I make sure that I am earning cashback?

Purchases you make at Bethrifty stores are only awarded if you started your shopping at the Bethrifty site and click on to the store from here. Our stores do not allow us to award cashback if you do not shop through Bethrifty first. If you click through Bethrifty to make a purchase, then visit other sites and return to that store to finally make the purchase, the purchase will not earn cashback. If you use multiple windows on your browser, the window in which you shop at the store must have been originated from the Bethrifty site. What are 'cookies' and how do I enable them?

Cookies are text files that allow a site to recognise you when you return. Cookies used by Bethrifty and our network of stores are completely safe and they are enabled by default with most browsers. Can I search for a store or product?
The search box is at the top right edge of almost every page. Type the name of the store that you're looking for, and click the "search" button. Alternatively, simply click on the green 'Browse All Stores' badge in the top navigation bar for a complete listing of the stores that work with Bethrifty.
 

What if Bethrifty doesn't offer the store I want?
We are working very hard everyday to increase the number of stores we have onboard. Hopefully we'll have more stores soon.
 

Do all purchases qualify for cashback?
Nearly all purchases (minus tax and delivery charges) qualify for cashback. If any items are not eligible for cashback we normally give you a warning in the store information page.
 

Can I use voucher/promotional codes and still earn Bethrifty cashback?
From time to time we may offer voucher codes to our members. These are in addition to your cashback amount. However, if you choose to use vouchers that are NOT listed on Bethrifty, we cannot guarantee that you will be eligible to receive ANY Bethrifty cashback on your purchases. In most circumstances where a code is used from another site the cashback will NOT be awarded.
 

Can I use payment methods such as Paypal or Google Checkout while shopping at the stores through Bethrifty?
We do not advise you to use alternative checkout methods such as Google Checkout or Paypal to pay for goods purchased at our listed stores. If you do, we cannot guarantee that your cashback will be awarded.
 

What if I want to return, exchange or cancel an order?
The return or cancellation policy is subject to the store that you have purchased from. If an item is returned or cancelled we will ALWAYS cancel the cashback earned.

Exchanges will also cancel cashback. The orginal order you placed through our site gets cancelled by the store, a new order is placed and the cashback is reversed. Because of this, the store will not pay us the commission as we did not refer the new order. This means we have no cashback to pass on to you.
 

Will Bethrifty sell information about me?
No. Never. All the information that we hold on our members is for the use of Bethrifty only.
 

Will I start receiving "spam" if I join?

No. We will never sell or share your information to third parties.
 

Can I close my account?
Yes. You have the right to cancel your account at any time. To do so email support@bethrifty.ie quoting your registered email address. Any outstanding cashback will be paid and you will receive confirmation that your account has been closed.
